Washington State Nursing Commission Name Changed to Board of Nursing
Washington state has joined the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) effective July 24, 2023.
As a part of the legislation to join the NLC, we changed our name:
- Old name: Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC)
- New name: Washington State Board of Nursing (WABON)
As we transition to the new name you may see communications and materials with either our old or new name.

We began using our new name, Washington State Board of Nursing (WABON), July 24, 2023.

Logo
The board approved a new logo with our new name in November 2023. We updated our website with our new logo in December 2023 and will be using it going forward.
Web content
New content will have our new name and logo. We will work on updating relevant web content over the next year.
Things not updating
Undertaking a name and logo change after 29 years, is a huge transition.
A lot of our previously posted content on our website won't be changing.
