She is a powerhouse of energy, wisdom, and humor who has been referred to as a positive force of nature who lights a path for others to follow. She is the original “Dear Donna” columnist at Nurse.com. Her accomplished career combines over 35 years of clinical, managerial, and business experience, not to mention her stint as a professional singer. Donna is author of four books including the award-winning Falling Together: How to Find Balance, Joy, and Meaningful Change When Your Life Seems to be Falling Apart. She is a certified meditation teacher and chair yoga instructor, labyrinth facilitator, Reiki Master, and Certified Forest Therapy Guide. Donna is a life-long Jersey Girl with attitude and chutzpah to spare!

Masters in Nursing Science is in Holistic Nursing and am Board Certified as an Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse and Nurse Coach.
30 years ago I began my healthcare career as an Emergency Medical Technician and Training Officer for my rural Vermont EMS Department. With almost an hour for transport to the hospital and no medications to offer, I searched for what I could bring to the care of patients suffering with pain, anxiety, and shortness of breath.
What I discovered was hypnosis, guided imagery, energy-based healing and even music helped my patients to breathe easily, relax more and reduce their pain.
So impressed with these outcomes for the patients and how it simultaneously reduced the anxiety experienced by myself and my co-EMT’s, I decided to become a nurse and be a bridge between western medicine and holistic therapies. Since 1992 I’ve taught thousands of nurses and other health professionals a science-based approach to integrative care.
As a life-long learner, I traveled around the world studying with indigenous healers and continued my passion for science and research working as a Holistic Clinical Nurse Specialist and Consultant at the teaching hospitals of Beth Israel Medical Center and NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City.
To grow the role of holistic nursing, I co-edited of the American Holistic Nurses Association research electronic newsletter and co-authored chapters in the award winning textbook Holistic Nursing: A handbook for practice, 6th Edition and Core Curriculum for Holistic Nursing.
