Engrossed Substitute House Bill (ESHB) 1120 passed during the recent legislative session.
ESHB has immediate impact on nursing assistant training programs that provide alternative or “bridge” training for home care aides and medical assistants. ESHB 1120 provides an allowance for these training programs to provide 24 or more training hours to students. Previously, these training programs were to provide exactly 24 hours of training and no more.
Home care aide and medical assistant alternative “bridge” programs that want to expand the training hours they currently offer should email a program change request describing their plan for review to: NCQAC.Education@DOH.WA.GOV.
