“Often it is easier for health care professionals to support others than to turn inwards and apply their extensive knowledge to themselves as a person, doing challenging work. In the context of ongoing stress and systemic change, you are invited to learn and apply evidence-based interventions that reduce professional burnout, contribute to a healthier you, and a healthier workplace culture.”
- Dr. Kira Mauseth PhD

Washington State Department of Health’s Power of Providers (POP) initiative invites you to participate in an upcoming webinar series focused on behavioral health support for health care professionals. The series will begin with Health for Health Care Professionals: Taking Care of Yourself as You Care for Others and features Washington’s prominent disaster psychologist, Dr. Kira Mauseth. This is part one of a three-part series. Please visit POP's webinar page for more information on the rest of the series. The webinar will be on Wednesday, March 19, from noon to 1:00 p.m.

POP’s scope has recently broadened to include a focus on health care professional well-being. We are offering this webinar series as part of our mission to address the well documented challenges health care professionals face in their daily lives. This series is dedicated to the frontline health care professionals who work daily to improve the health and lives of all Washingtonians.

This webinar will help participants identify and name experiences that contribute to their own sense of personal burnout and / or restoration both on and off the job. Developing an understanding of what works for you personally, as you engage in health care support for others, facilitates healthier engagement in your work. Participants will evaluate opportunities for the development of healthy boundaries and strategic use of “off” time, as well as the importance of attending to the compassion rewards that are available in connecting with patients.

The learning objectives for this webinar are to:

  1. Identify experiences that contribute to burnout vs restoration.
  2. Develop a personal plan for healthy engagement.
  3. Establish healthy boundaries around work and “off” time.

The webinar will be recorded and there will be live ASL interpretation. We are offering free continuing education for nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Pease see the details below.
