The Notifiable Conditions State Board of Health (SBOH) Rule (Chapter 246-101 WAC) was revised and the rule changes went into effect January 1, 2023.

What's changed?
- New or revised requirements for 74 new or existing conditions
- Revised reporting periods for some conditions
- New or revised reporting contacts for some conditions
- Revised demographic collection requirements with new reporting categories
- New requirement for reporting pregnancy status* (for Hep B)
- New requirement for reporting Medicaid status* (for blood lead in patients less than 72 months of age)
- Revised criteria for collecting contact information
- Clarifying notification, investigation report, and outbreak report content requirements
Revised forms
On November 21, the Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology published revised notifiable condition reporting forms in alignment with the changes in Chapter 246-101 WAC.
Changes include updated fields to collect the newly required demographic data.
Blood lead test results
All blood lead test results must be reported to DOH.
If you use in clinic LeadCare II point of care devices, you are responsible for that reporting.

The Department of Health (DOH) will continue to update the DOH Notifiable Conditions Rule Revision Implementation website.
Updates will include:
- new requirements of the chapter
- clear instructions on how to submit notifications
- case and laboratory report forms to use in submitting required information.
- The forms will include fields for all the required elements of the case report as well as information on how to access guidance and technical assistance.
