Michael Syputa lives in Redmond and is the proud father of an adult daughter attending the U of W. He loves the outdoors and particularly likes to hike and fish. He likes a good debate and is one to speak up when others will not.

Michael has been an LPN at Kaiser Permanente in Seattle for almost 20 years. He started practicing in pediatric home hospice, then transitioned to Infectious Diseases at KP. His expertise is in MDRO’s, wound care, home infusion therapy, IV and oral antimicrobials, and Infection Prevention/Control. He manages a practice of 4 infectious diseases specialists covering all Washington state for KP.

Michael has a strong interest in discipline in nursing practice due to personal experiences of neglect and medication diversion as a patient. In 2017, after multiple failed foot and ankle reconstructions, he had a left lower leg amputation due to complications of diabetes. This has given him unique insight into most facets of clinical nursing, including hospital, skilled rehab, surgical, post-surgical and home health, due to being on both sides of the bed over many years.

Michael is excited to be a member of this board and is looking forward to what he can contribute to further the profession of nursing.
