Medication Assistant Certification Endorsement (MACE) Training Program

Medication Assistant Certification Endorsement (MACE) programs provide additional education to experienced nursing assistants-certified who work in nursing homes.
- Experienced NACs who complete an approved MACE program are eligible to take the state MACE exam.
- Experienced NACs who pass the state exam are eligible to apply for endorsement as a medication assistant in a nursing home.

Eligibility to Take the Exam
Applicants who want to take the Medication Assistant Certification Endorsement (MACE) exam must meet the requirements listed in WAC 246-841A-595.
These requirements include minimum work experience and training requirements.
Apply to take the Exam
Qualified applicants complete the following steps to gain approval to register for the MACE exam:

Step 1:
- Submit an application for the medication assistant endorsement to the Department of Health (DOH) – Credentialing.

Step 2:
- Include the Certificate of Completion (COC) received from your MACE program with your application.

Step 3:
- DOH – Credentialing will process the application.

Step 4:
- Once all application requirements are met, DOH – Credentialing will authorize eligible applicants to take the exam by sending the applicant an Authorization to Test (ATT).
