Applying for a License with a Positive Background Check
We conduct a criminal background check on all applications.
WABON believes that diverse experiences support a nursing workforce that offers shared life experiences to our patients. This includes supporting individuals to pursue a career in nursing following criminal convictions when safe to do so.
To help individuals navigate ability to enroll in school and clinical placements and be licensed, we have included some resources to support decision-making. We also recommend talking with the nursing program about any conviction history to help with questions about clinical placements.
- WABON procedure on criteria for license applications, particularly algorithm
- DSHS list of disqualifying convictions for clinical placements in certain care settings: WAC 388-113-0020
