Congratulations to Cydne Marckmann, DNP, MN, RN, ARNP, FNP-BC, ANP-BC, FAANP, the 2026 Washington State Award Winner for Outstanding Contributions for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. To be eligible for this award, the criteria included:
"AANP member or non-member who demonstrates excellence in alignment with the mission and goals of AANP in the areas of practice, education, advocacy, research, or leadership (PEARL)."
“Cyd” completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2016 from Frontier Nursing University. Her DNP project focused on the design and implementation of a real-time telemedicine program for Washington State Athletic Trainers in Concussion Management, one of the first in the United States. She completed her Nurse Practitioner program with Adult and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner certifications from the University of Washington in 1999 and a post-master’s certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017. Elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in 2013, she has been active in health policy for several years and served on the National Advisory Council on Nursing Education and Practice for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) from 2005 to 2010. Active in sports medicine for several years, she was the first Nurse Practitioner appointed as a Medical Director for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, 60-mile Breast Cancer Walk, a position she held for three years in Seattle. An advocate for student-athletes, she facilitated a return-to-play protocol for concussions for the Puyallup School District in Washington, a protocol now adopted by several other Washington school districts.
Cydne has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Nursing Honor Society, since 1990. Currently, she is employed by MultiCare Health Systems in a dual role: Program Director for Advanced Practice Provider Education and Mentoring and creator and medical director of the Mount Tahoma School-Based Health Clinic.
Cyd will be accepting this award in June 2026 at the AANP National Conference in Las Vegas, NV.
